Cosmetic Bonding

in Orange, CA

Chipped a front tooth and now notice it in every mirror? Cosmetic bonding in Orange, CA, can fix chips and small gaps in as little as one visit. Most patients leave Dental Spa of Orange with the flaw already gone and a smile they're happy to show again.

What is Dental Bonding

Which Chips and Gaps Can Cosmetic Bonding Repair?

Cosmetic bonding uses composite resin, a tooth-colored material that we shape onto your tooth and harden with a special blue light. It works well for chipped edges, small gaps, short or uneven teeth and spots that whitening won't lift. Little or no enamel needs to be removed.

Bonding is often paired with tooth reshaping, which smooths a small amount of enamel to even out an edge. Resin picks up stains faster than porcelain, so for larger changes we may suggest veneers and explain why we think they'd serve you better.

The Benefits of Dental Bonding

One Visit

Most bonding repairs are finished in a single appointment, so you can walk out of the office with your chipped tooth already fixed.

Natural Look

Resin comes in many shades and is built up in thin layers to match the color and soft translucency along the edge of a front tooth.

Preserves Enamel

Because so little enamel is removed, bonding can usually be redone or upgraded to a veneer later without losing much natural tooth.

The Dental Bonding Process

Bonding is usually finished in one appointment, starting with a shade match and ending with a final polish.

Step 1

Exam & Planning

You show us the chip or gap that bothers you, and we check the tooth closely for any decay or small cracks underneath.

Step 2

Shade Matching

We pick a resin shade that matches your tooth in natural light, and if you plan to whiten, we suggest doing that first so they match.

Step 3

Tooth Prep

We lightly roughen the surface and apply a conditioning liquid, which helps the resin bond firmly to your tooth.

Step 4

Resin Layering

The resin goes on in thin layers, and we shape each layer by hand before hardening it with a blue curing light in a few seconds.

Step 5

Final Polish

We smooth the edges, check your bite and polish the surface to a natural shine. Then we explain which habits can chip resin, such as nail biting.

Our Difference

Carefully Sculpted Repairs

Our dentist, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, shapes each repair to match the natural contours of your tooth.

Short, Comfortable Visits

Bonding visits are quick and many need no numbing at all, and we check in on how you're feeling the whole time we work on your tooth.

Honest, Clear Recommendations

We will tell you whether bonding, reshaping, Lumineers or veneers best fits your goals, and we only suggest what you need.

Whole-Smile Check First

Before any bonding, we check your teeth for decay, bite problems and grinding, since any of these can chip or weaken new resin.

Did you know…

Most bonding repairs are finished in one visit, and many need no numbing at all.

Kind and understanding staff. I felt like I was really listened to and given appropriate care without any pressure to do procedures I wasn’t ready for. They fixed my chipped tooth without any pain. Quick and professional. Highly recommend.

I broke a tooth early one morning before work. I called the office as soon as it opened and they were able to fit me in a couple of hours later. I left with a temporary fix and a full treatment plan. Every single member of the staff at Dental Spa of Orange is amazing; kind, patient and going the extra mile to accommodate special needs related to a current medical issue. I feel more valued at this office than I did at my previous dentist of over 20 years!

I’m very pleased with this office. Honesty is important to me, and this office is that. One of my biggest issues that I have come across with dentistry is charging the insurance for work not done or having work done that is not needed. My last dentist stated I needed 6 fillings and 2 crowns. I went for a second opinion here, and not one of that was needed!

I've been going to Dental Spa & Implant Center of Orange a couple of times, they have excellent care, great friendly staff, and a nice clean environment! So far I've had a fair amount of work done here, including a crown, a filing, and cleanings. Dr. Martey saved me from needless procedures recommended by other dentists. He did an amazing job fitting a crown that I was told would require surgical removal of my Gum. He spent hours patiently placing the crown in and customized it so that it fit properly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I can not say good things about this place. They took my fear and anxiety about the dentist and made me feel safe and comfortable. I can not say enough good things about this place.

The Staff was very friendly and accommodating. With covid making life harder the office made it seem very easy and accessable. The dental surgeon was incredible and cared about my pain management. I am definitely going back for my next dental needs.

Dental spa has done multiple work for my mom's implants, she is 72 and has major implants needs. She is happy with dental spa's work. As for me, my cleaning is done here, the hygiest is the best. Thank you!

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Check out these frequently asked questions, or call us at (714) 282-2525 to speak with our team.

Will I need to be numbed for bonding?

Most bonding repairs need no numbing at all. If the chip is close to the nerve or there's decay to remove, we'll numb the area first. You can raise a hand any time you'd like a break.

Will bonding stain or chip?

It can over time, though bonding usually holds up well for several years. Resin picks up coffee, tea and wine stains more easily than porcelain, and it can chip if you bite nails, ice or pens. A small chip in the resin can often be repaired without redoing the whole tooth.

Should I choose bonding or veneers?

Bonding usually makes more sense for one or two small repairs, while veneers suit bigger changes in color or shape. Bonding costs less and keeps more of your enamel, and porcelain holds its color longer. At your visit, we will compare both options on your own teeth.

Can insurance help when bonding repairs a chip?

Sometimes. Plans may help pay when bonding repairs a chipped or broken tooth, but rarely when the goal is purely cosmetic. Delta Dental, Tricare and Connection Dental plans are all in network at our office, and we can check if your plan treats the repair as restorative before your visit.

Can I eat normally after bonding?

Yes, the resin is fully hardened before you leave the office. Since most bonding needs no numbing, you can usually eat right away. For the first few days, try biting into apples or crusty bread with your side teeth instead of the repaired edge.
