Does a sip of ice water make one tooth zing? Tooth-colored fillings in Orange, CA, repair small cavities with a natural-looking finish that blends right in. We treat them early, so cold drinks can feel normal again and your smile stays bright.
A tooth-colored filling is made of composite resin, a durable material that bonds directly to your tooth. Because it bonds, we can usually remove less healthy tooth than an old silver (amalgam) filling required. This fits our biomimetic approach, which means repairing only the damaged part and keeping as much healthy tooth as possible.
Composite works well for small to medium cavities, chipped edges and cracked silver fillings. A larger cavity may do better with an inlay or onlay, a custom-made piece that is bonded into the tooth.
The composite is matched to the shade of the surrounding tooth, so the filling blends in and is hard to see when you smile.
Because composite bonds to the tooth, less drilling is needed, and a tooth that keeps more of its natural structure tends to stay stronger.
Composite bonds tightly to the tooth surface, which helps keep the edges of the filling sealed against food and bacteria.
We examine the tooth, take an X-ray if one is needed and show you the cavity on screen before explaining our plan.
We numb the tooth and gum and wait until the area is fully numb, so most people feel only light pressure and vibration.
We remove the decay or old filling material and clean the tooth, keeping as much of the healthy structure as we can.
The composite goes in thin layers, and a small blue curing light hardens each layer in a few seconds before the next one is added.
We shape and polish the filling, check your bite with a thin paper strip and explain what to expect as the numbness wears off.
We choose the shade in good light and shape the filling to the natural grooves of your tooth, so it looks and feels like the rest of the tooth.
We make sure the tooth is fully numb before we begin, check in with you as we work and stop whenever you raise your hand.
Before any work begins, you'll know the cost, risks and alternatives, and you're welcome to take a day to think it over.
We place the smallest filling that will hold up well, and finding a cavity early at a regular checkup keeps it small.

Call (714) 282-2525I’m very pleased with this office. Honesty is important to me, and this office is that. One of my biggest issues that I have come across with dentistry is charging the insurance for work not done or having work done that is not needed. My last dentist stated I needed 6 fillings and 2 crowns. I went for a second opinion here, and not one of that was needed!
Kind and understanding staff. I felt like I was really listened to and given appropriate care without any pressure to do procedures I wasn’t ready for. They fixed my chipped tooth without any pain. Quick and professional. Highly recommend.
I broke a tooth early one morning before work. I called the office as soon as it opened and they were able to fit me in a couple of hours later. I left with a temporary fix and a full treatment plan. Every single member of the staff at Dental Spa of Orange is amazing; kind, patient and going the extra mile to accommodate special needs related to a current medical issue. I feel more valued at this office than I did at my previous dentist of over 20 years!
I've been going to Dental Spa & Implant Center of Orange a couple of times, they have excellent care, great friendly staff, and a nice clean environment! So far I've had a fair amount of work done here, including a crown, a filing, and cleanings. Dr. Martey saved me from needless procedures recommended by other dentists. He did an amazing job fitting a crown that I was told would require surgical removal of my Gum. He spent hours patiently placing the crown in and customized it so that it fit properly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
Clean office, friendly and very helpful staff… More importantly, wonderful and skillful dentists. Good work and very reasonable charges...
Nice and clean place, the doctor is professional and reliable. The best dentist in the town!
We love the dental spa of Orange! Staff are great, dentists are wonderful, appointments are easy to get, facility is clean and well cared for. Highly recommend!
Friendly staff and doctor makes you feel comfortable. Will continue to recommend Dental Spa of Orange to friends and family.
Good cleaning and friendly staff. The Dr is very good. Been going there for years and very satisfied.
I can not say good things about this place. They took my fear and anxiety about the dentist and made me feel safe and comfortable. I can not say enough good things about this place.
The Staff was very friendly and accommodating. With covid making life harder the office made it seem very easy and accessable. The dental surgeon was incredible and cared about my pain management. I am definitely going back for my next dental needs.
Dental spa has done multiple work for my mom's implants, she is 72 and has major implants needs. She is happy with dental spa's work. As for me, my cleaning is done here, the hygiest is the best. Thank you!

Usually, yes, because the curing light fully hardens the composite before you leave. Wait until the numbness wears off, usually in 2 to 4 hours, so you don't bite your cheek or tongue. Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is common and usually fades on its own.
The cost mainly depends on the size of the cavity and which tooth it's in. A small filling on one surface costs less than a larger one that wraps around a back tooth, and removing an old silver filling adds a step. You'll know the exact cost before you decide, and financing options can spread it out.
Usually in part, since most plans treat fillings as basic care, though some pay only the silver-filling rate on back teeth. We're in network with Delta Dental, Tricare and Connection Dental plans. Our team can check your benefits before the visit so you know your share.
For small and medium cavities, modern composite holds up well to everyday chewing. How long a filling lasts depends on its size, your bite and your home care, and habits like grinding or chewing ice can shorten its life. For very large repairs, an inlay, onlay or crown usually lasts longer.
Yes, if they're cracked, leaking or worn down. We remove the amalgam and rebuild the tooth with composite, or with an inlay or onlay if the space is large. Silver fillings that are still solid and sealed don't always need replacing, and we will tell you which ones can wait.
