Jaw Relief
Relaxing tight muscles and protecting your teeth at night can ease the soreness and stiffness you feel in your jaw each morning.
in Orange, CA
Is jaw pain making it hard to chew or even focus on your day? TMJ treatment in Orange, CA, gets to the root of what's driving the pain so the relief can last. We start with gentle care so meals and conversations can feel comfortable again.
Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the hinge just in front of each ear that connects your lower jaw to your skull. When these joints or the muscles around them are overworked, you may notice soreness, clicking or trouble opening wide. Some people also get headaches near the temples or a feeling of fullness in the ears, and dentists often call this TMD, short for temporomandibular disorder.
Clenching and grinding at night are common causes, and stress and poor sleep can make both worse. We ask about your sleep and daily habits along with checking your teeth and bite. We also check your jaw at every full exam, so changes can be caught early.
Relaxing tight muscles and protecting your teeth at night can ease the soreness and stiffness you feel in your jaw each morning.
Some tension headaches near the temples are linked to clenching, and relaxing those jaw muscles may help them happen less often.
A relaxed jaw makes chewing, talking and yawning more comfortable, so everyday meals and conversations take less effort.
Jaw pain often improves step by step, so we start with simple care and adjust your plan as you go.
Book NowWe ask when the pain started, what makes it worse and how you sleep, including whether anyone has heard you grind your teeth at night.
We feel the joints and chewing muscles, check your bite and tooth wear and use CBCT imaging only when it would help.
We explain what we found in plain language and walk you through your options, the cost and what each one involves.
Depending on the cause, you may get a night guard made from an iTero scan, small bite adjustments, red light therapy or a mix of these.
We see how you're feeling, adjust your guard as needed and share home-care tips like gentle stretches, warm compresses and chewing less gum.
Every full exam includes a TMJ evaluation and a bite analysis, so jaw problems can be spotted early, before they have a chance to flare up.
Our team speaks English, Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese, so you can describe your jaw symptoms in the language that feels most natural.
Sleep, stress and daily habits can all affect jaw pain, so we ask about them just as carefully as we check your teeth and bite.
Your plan may include a custom night guard, bite adjustment, FDA-cleared red light therapy for muscle pain and home exercises.

FAQs
Check out these frequently asked questions, or call us at (714) 282-2525 to speak with our team.
Clicking usually comes from the small disc inside the joint shifting as you open and close. It's common and isn't always a problem on its own. If the clicking comes with pain, locking or trouble opening your mouth, we should take a look.
You can, but a custom guard usually works better for jaw pain. Store-bought guards are bulkier and don't fit as closely, and for some people they can make clenching worse. A custom guard is made from your iTero scan and adjusted to fit your bite.
Red light therapy is quiet and relaxing. A device shines red light over your sore jaw muscles during a short session while you rest in the chair. It's FDA-cleared for TMJ muscle pain and is often used along with a night guard.
Coverage varies a lot from plan to plan. Some dental plans help pay for night guards, and some TMJ care falls under medical insurance instead. As an in-network office for Delta Dental, Tricare and Connection Dental, we can check what your plan says about guards and jaw care.
TMJ pain often improves a lot, but it can come back. Jaw problems tend to flare with stress, poor sleep and clenching, so treatment usually focuses on managing symptoms over time. We'll keep checking your jaw at regular visits and adjust your plan as needed.
