Healthier Gums
Once the buildup below the gumline is removed, swollen and bleeding gums usually begin to improve within a few weeks.
in Orange, CA
Noticing blood when you brush or gums that look puffy and red? Periodontal therapy in Orange, CA, treats the gum disease behind those signs and helps protect the bone that holds your teeth in place. Healthier gums take the worry out of brushing and help you keep your natural teeth for years to come.
Gum disease begins when plaque along the gumline hardens into tartar and irritates the gums, often without any pain at first. Over time, it can break down the gums and bone that hold your teeth in place. Periodontal therapy removes that buildup so your gums can heal.
Research also links gum health to conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Lee is a member of the American Academy of Oral & Systemic Health, so we ask about your sleep, stress, nutrition and daily habits when we check your gums.
Once the buildup below the gumline is removed, swollen and bleeding gums usually begin to improve within a few weeks.
Treating gum disease protects the bone that holds your teeth in place, which helps your natural teeth stay strong and last longer.
Removing bacteria from deep gum pockets often improves bad breath that brushing, flossing and mouthwash alone haven't fixed.
Gum treatment happens in stages, and each stage depends on how your gums respond to the one before.
Book NowWe start by reviewing your health history and medications, since diabetes and some common medicines can affect your gums.
We measure the small pocket around each tooth and check bone levels on X-rays, then show you the numbers and what they mean.
With the area numbed, we remove hardened buildup below the gumline and smooth the roots, and most people go back to work the same day.
Areas that need more help may receive laser gum treatment or a gingivectomy, and OralDNA testing can guide the next steps.
Maintenance cleanings, often every 3 to 4 months, help keep gum disease under control and let us catch any changes early. We'll also give you aftercare instructions for brushing tender areas, flossing well and knowing when to give us a call.
When gum pockets become too deep for a toothbrush or floss to reach, a deep cleaning called scaling and root planing clears them out. We numb each area first and can split the treatment into more than one visit, so each appointment stays comfortable.
If standard care isn't getting results, OralDNA testing maps the harmful and helpful bacteria in your mouth to help guide treatment.
Our Biolase dental laser is used for laser gum treatment and gingivectomy, the removal of overgrown or diseased gum tissue. We also treat peri-implantitis, an inflammation of the gums and bone around dental implants that can loosen them over time.
Health conditions, medications, smoking and stress can all affect your gums, so we ask about each one and explain every option and its cost.

Call (714) 282-2525The best deep clean I've ever done! The overall process is comfortable and not painful at all! This is really surprised me a lot because I've done several times of the teeth scaling before in some other places and most of the times i felt very uncomfortable and painful. But this time it absolutely didn't feel any pain. The doctor used the special anesthetic gel before doing the deep cleaning, I can feel a little bit numb in my mouth, but that's all. It took around 30 minutes to complete the deep cleaning, and it felt very fresh and clean. The environment here is excellent as well, it is clean and sweet, all the staff are very nice and happy, with big smiles on their faces:) I will come here again for sure, thanks for the great service!
This place is amazing! I went in for a deep cleaning and the dentist really took her time and did an amazing job! My teeth never looked and felt so good. The office is state of the art, the service was great and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely be coming back!!
Dr Desai was excellent explaining everything going on with my teeth and the options I had for future treatment needed. Also his assistant was very kind and efficient, unfortunately I did not get her name. Rebecca at the front desk, greeted me with a smile and helped me on my way out. I left there with my teeth feeling squeaky clean. Thank you everyone as Dental Spa of Orange : ) Yvette
Good cleaning and friendly staff. The Dr is very good. Been going there for years and very satisfied.
This was my first visit to a new Dentist in twenty years. I must say I was very impressed with the professionalism of the entire staff and the sophistication of the equipment that was skillfully used by the Doctor and attending technicians. Bettyana the hygienist was very attentive and explained everything to my understanding. The Doctor helped me to interpret the X-ray pictures and spot the trouble spots. He then designed a beautiful program to get me on track to arrest and hopefully reverse the until now neglected areas of my teeth and gums. Yanira the receptionist was very informative and explained how to set up my future dental maintenance program and even suggested a way to save money by recommending the Dental Spa and implant center of Orange to my family and friends. Which I will gladly do with confidence. Oh yeah and a shout out to the other front office workers named Rebecca and Karina who were heavily involved in getting me started on the eye opening, highly educational adventure. Thank you to all the team members of Dental Spa and implant center of Orange, I hold you all in high regard and pray God will bless your wonderful business and your families. Truly thankful, your new patient and cheerleader, Kevin Gilliam

I cannot say enough great things about my hygienist! They are truly exceptional at what they do. From the moment I walked into the office, they made me feel comfortable and cared for. Most people find it comfortable, because we numb each area first and they feel only some pressure and vibration. Your gums may feel tender or a little sensitive to cold for a few days, and soft foods and warm salt-water rinses help. If anxiety makes treatment hard to face, IV sedation is available through our visiting dental anesthesiologist.
A regular cleaning removes plaque and tartar at and just above the gumline, while a deep cleaning goes below the gumline into the pockets and smooths the roots. This deep cleaning is called scaling and root planing. It's done with numbing and may be split into more than one visit.
The cost depends on how many areas need a deep cleaning and whether laser care or OralDNA testing is part of your plan. How often you need maintenance visits also affects the total. After your gums are measured, we'll give you written pricing for each stage, and financing options can spread out the cost.
Usually in part, since many plans cover scaling and root planing at a different level than routine cleanings, and maintenance visits may be covered differently again. We're in network with Delta Dental and Tricare, along with Connection Dental plans. Call us and we'll check your benefits before your visit.
Gum disease can usually be reversed only in its early stage, called gingivitis, with a professional cleaning and better home care. Once periodontitis has damaged the bone, that damage can't be undone. Treatment and regular maintenance can often keep it stable for many years.
