Emergency dentistry treats problems that can't wait for a regular checkup, with the goal of saving your natural tooth whenever possible. Below are the most common emergencies and what you can do before you reach our office.
A toothache that throbs or lingers can be a sign of deep decay, infection or a crack. Rinse with warm water, gently floss out any trapped food and call us.
For a broken or chipped tooth, save any pieces, rinse your mouth and use a cold compress. A small sharp edge can often be smoothed, while a larger break may need bonding, a crown or a root canal.
If an adult tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown, rinse it without scrubbing, and either place it back in the socket or keep it in milk. Never put a baby tooth back in.
An abscess may show up as a bump on the gum, a bad taste or a swollen cheek. This kind of infection rarely clears up on its own, so call us promptly.
If you lose a crown or filling, keep the crown, chew on the other side and call us so we can protect the exposed tooth.
After a fall or a bump during play, we check your child's baby and permanent teeth for damage, even if nothing looks broken.
For a cut lip, cheek or tongue, press clean gauze on the area to slow the bleeding. A hard hit can also damage nearby teeth in ways you can't see, so we check those as well.
We see patients three days a week. Here's when you can reach us.
Monday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Wednesday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Closed Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday
On a closed day, go to the ER or call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling that spreads toward your eye or neck. Don't wait for us to open. For a toothache, chip or lost crown, use the first-aid tips in the list above and call us as soon as we open. Online booking stays open at any hour, so you can grab the next opening tonight.
Once we find what's causing your pain, we can treat it directly and help you feel better sooner than if you wait for it to pass.
Prompt care gives a damaged or infected tooth the best chance of being saved, so you can keep your natural tooth for years to come.
A small crack treated early may only need a filling or bonding to protect the tooth and stop the damage from spreading. If the crack is left alone, the same tooth could later need a crown, a root canal or even an extraction.
Most emergency visits follow the same five steps, from your first phone call to the care you'll need at home afterward.
Book NowTell us what happened, and our team will walk you through first aid while we find you the soonest available time to come in.
We examine the painful area first and check the teeth and gums around it for cracks, swelling or infection. If we need a closer look below the gumline, we take X-rays or a 3D scan before recommending any treatment.
Local anesthesia numbs the area before we begin, so you'll feel some pressure during treatment but no sharp pain. Then we treat the immediate problem, such as an infection, bleeding or an exposed nerve, to bring you relief.
Depending on the problem, you may need a filling, a crown, a root canal or an extraction to repair or replace the tooth. We explain which repair your tooth needs, how it works and how long it takes.
Numbness usually wears off in 2 to 4 hours, so wait until you can feel your lip and cheek again before you eat or chew. After a filling or root canal, most people feel well enough to return to work or school the next day.
Members of our team speak Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese as well as English, so you can describe your symptoms in the language you know best.
If you feel nervous about dental work, a visiting dental anesthesiologist can provide IV sedation, usually at a planned follow-up visit.
Pain from one tooth can sometimes feel like it's coming from a different tooth, which makes the source hard to pin down. CBCT 3D imaging helps us find hidden cracks and infections, so we treat the tooth that's actually causing the problem.
We tell you which treatment we recommend and why, and we go over the cost in plain language first. Your take-home checklist covers how to care for your tooth over the next few days and which signs to watch for.

Call (714) 282-2525This was my first time back to dentist in 10 years, they made me feel very comfortable and took care of my painful toothache, highly recommend
I’m not one to leave comments or reviews but my experience was so good, I feel compelled to post a comment. I have always hated going dentist. My experience growing up was never a good one but then I had a dental issue I couldn’t neglect anymore I had to find a dentist. I came across Dental Spa in Orange ( they accepted my insurance) Dental Spa sounded good so I rolled the dice and gave them a call. I’m so glad I did! They were able to see me right away. My visit was great! They were incredibly understanding re: my dental phobia, and we’re so kind. They treated me like family, explained everything to me and made sure I was comfortable. If you or anyone you know deals with issues about going to dentist Dental Spa in Orange is THE best choice! You won’t be sorry!
Got me in quick and fixed my dental emergency without issue!
I broke a tooth early one morning before work. I called the office as soon as it opened and they were able to fit me in a couple of hours later. I left with a temporary fix and a full treatment plan. Every single member of the staff at Dental Spa of Orange is amazing; kind, patient and going the extra mile to accommodate special needs related to a current medical issue. I feel more valued at this office than I did at my previous dentist of over 20 years!
Clean office, friendly and very helpful staff… More importantly, wonderful and skillful dentists. Good work and very reasonable charges...
Nice and clean place, the doctor is professional and reliable. The best dentist in the town!
We love the dental spa of Orange! Staff are great, dentists are wonderful, appointments are easy to get, facility is clean and well cared for. Highly recommend!
Friendly staff and doctor makes you feel comfortable. Will continue to recommend Dental Spa of Orange to friends and family.
Good cleaning and friendly staff. The Dr is very good. Been going there for years and very satisfied.
I can not say good things about this place. They took my fear and anxiety about the dentist and made me feel safe and comfortable. I can not say enough good things about this place.
The Staff was very friendly and accommodating. With covid making life harder the office made it seem very easy and accessable. The dental surgeon was incredible and cared about my pain management. I am definitely going back for my next dental needs.
I’m very pleased with this office. Honesty is important to me, and this office is that. One of my biggest issues that I have come across with dentistry is charging the insurance for work not done or having work done that is not needed. My last dentist stated I needed 6 fillings and 2 crowns. I went for a second opinion here, and not one of that was needed!

FAQs
Check out these frequently asked questions, or call us at (714) 282-2525 to speak with our team.
Call us first so we can give you steps for your situation. In the meantime, rinse gently with warm water, use a cold compress for swelling and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as the label directs. Never put aspirin or any pain pill directly on your gum, since it can burn the tissue.
Go to the ER or call 911 if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling that spreads toward your eye or down your neck. You should also go to the ER for bleeding that soaks through gauze after steady pressure, or if your jaw may be broken after a fall or blow. Once you're stable, call us to take care of the tooth.
We do our best to see urgent cases quickly, and calling early in the day gives us the most room to fit you in. If a problem starts on a Tuesday, Thursday or weekend, follow the closed-day steps above until we open.
Yes, in most cases you should still have the tooth checked. Pain that suddenly fades can mean the nerve inside the tooth has died while the infection continues to spread toward the bone. Call us even if you feel better, so we can examine the tooth.
Usually, at least in part. Many plans cover an emergency exam and X-rays, and the filling or root canal that follows is often partly covered. We're in network with Delta Dental, Tricare and Connection Dental plans, and our team will check your benefits while we schedule your visit.
